Eden Nature Park, Davao City

"TAKE NOTHING BUT PICTURES
LEAVE NOTHING BUT FOOTPRINTS
KILL NOTHING BUT TIME
BRING HOME NOTHING BUT MEMORIES."

The Mountaineer's Dictum is prominently displayed in the park's lobby. It reminds everyone to appreciate the gifts of nature and not to vandal or litter the place. Eden Nature Park and Resort is an 80 hectares man-made mountain resort located at one of Davao City's highest points. In fact, the park stands at 3,000 feet above sea level. It took us about an hour from the City proper to reach the park.

An entrance fee of P135 per person will entitle you to a guided tour around the area where their guide will tour you around the various points of interests as well as in other resort activities and facilities that the Park can offer.

Among the point of interests we have visited were the Flower Garden, Lola's Garden, Deer Park, Vegetable Gardens and Greenhouses, the Birdwalk, Fruit Tree Collection, Organic Vegetable and Herbs Garden, Matinlo Pond and Falls, Tree and Ornamental Nurseries and the Prayer Garden. We were also toured around their facilities such as their Fishing Village, Swimming Pool, Campsite, Sports Field and their Souvenir Shop and Center.

And if you want to stay longer, you can also try their Eden Mountain Trail. One of the many things that visitors can enjoy at Eden Nature Park and Resort is the Mountain Trail. One can get in touch with the sights and sounds of nature by walking along the 4-kilometer trail where towering trees, creeks and boulders greet the visitors. The entire course can be finished in about a couple of hours. I'll definitely try this next time.

But for now, the cool breeze of the mountain and the sight and sounds of the floras and the faunas are enough for me. Here are some of the pics I have taken from the Park:

The guy posing in the lifesize water buffalo (kalabaw) is Father Arnold, (yes guys he is a priest) who is one of my companions in this Davao Trip. On the other hand, the lady on the wishing well full of hibiscus flowers is Carmi, my ever dependable office mate. On the subject of wishing, my wish for her is to finally conceive 'coz she is still childless. Her wish daw for me is to get married na. Hehehe.

Anyways, if you guys are planning to go to Davao City, please do not miss this park. It is a proof that man can re-create nature and rebuild a lost environment. For more details of the Park please check out their website by clicking here.

  2. Eden is also one of my favorite places in Davao. The short trip around the park is cool. Try having alfresco dinner or beer at Pirata Bar at Waterfront Insular Hotel. Nice ambience with cool sea breeze and the stars above you. :)
