Bisita Iglesia in Nueva Ecija

Bisita Iglesia (Church Visits) is a Filipino tradition performed by Christians every Lenten Season. This is done by visiting seven catholic churches and offering prayers to the Lord.

In previous years, I used to visit seven churches and chapels around Cabanatuan City. This year, I have decided to do my visits outside my City but within my province of Nueva Ecija. Because these churches are located far from each other, it took me the whole day of this Holy Thursday to finish the visit.

So, in celebration of the Lenten Season, let me share to you seven of the oldest and historical churches of Nueva Ecija.

Cathedral of St. Joseph, City of San Jose

Immaculate Conception Church, Municipality of Nampicuan

Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Municipality of Licab

Nuestra Senora Delas Saleras Parish, Municipality of Aliaga

St. Rose De Lima Church, Municipality of Santa Rosa

Three Kings Parish Church, City of Gapan

San Isidro Labrador Church, Municipality of San Isidro

Let me end this post with my favorite verse in the bible. "For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS begotten SON that whoever shall believe in HIM will not perish but shall have an everlasting life".

Have a blessed Lenten Season everyone!!!

  21. I was wondering why do you need to visit at least 7 churches? Is there a symbolic meaning in the number 7?

    (:

  24. @ kyels - i think i'll agree with vinzent's answer 'coz i somewhat also heard that it was patterned to the seven churches visited before the Last Supper.
