Return to Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon, a popular name for Maira-ira, is one place that I will never get tired of going. I was there last year on a summer where the sky was clearer and the sea calmer. This time around, the weather is gloomier and the sea much wavier but still, the place is perfect if you long for tranquility and serenity. So, despite the very long hours spent on just going there, a return to Blue Lagoon is very much worth it.

How to go there? You need to go first to Laoag, Ilocos Norte either thru a Bus or via plane. The bus trip from Cubao will usually take you 10 to 12 hours depending on the traffic. I advise that you take the night trip so you will be there by noon. There is usually a once a day flight to Laoag via PAL so you better check the schedule of the flight and arrange your itinerary accordingly. Then, from Laoag you need to take another bus that will lead you to Pagudpud. The bus will drop you off the road leading to Maira-ira. You need to ride a tricycle that will lead you to the beach. Accomodation is not a problem there since there are lots of resorts that will cater to every kind of traveler whether you are on a budget or not. There is even a place where you can pitch your tent. Just ask around, the folks there are very friendly.

There are lots of things to see in the area. Since I was there last year, I took less photos this time and just enjoyed the place. I even cook our breakfast while my blogger-friends are shooting very early in the morning.

You can check out my entry last year on the following places of interests in Pagudpud:

Bantay Abot Cave
Blue Lagoon
Kabigan Falls
Aqua Grande
Saud White Beach
