Coron : Views from Mount Tapyas

Town Below

The Cross of Mount Tapyas is one of the most prominent features of Coron. At day time, you can see this white structure from the town proper and at night, it is all lighted-up that seems to symbolize protection for the islands. There are 742 steps leading to the top with many pit stops in case you need to catch your breath. Once on top, you will have magnificent 360 view of Coron and nearby islets and islands.

These photos were taken before Yolanda hit Coron. Sadly, the Cross was destroyed by the recent typhoon. But make no mistake about it, the Coron people will do every effort to see to it that the Cross will rise again and will once again symbolize faith, hope and strength of the people of Coron.

  5. Yolanda will surely change tourism in the areas affected like Coron but I still tell my friends to continue visiting these places because people there need all the help they can get including money to be brought by tourists. I have booked mine this coming January.
