Loboc River

Ah life. A smorgasboard of seafood above a floating restaurant navigating Loboc River. What more could you ask for? . After climbing 214 steps in a stair leading to the Observation Deck of Chocolate Hills and a brief tour around Billar's Man Made Forest, we headed to a Floating Restaurant in Loboc to take our lunch. It was an "eat-all-you-can" array of mostly seafoods and barbeques with lots of native puto or kakanin. We were even serenaded by a guy who sang Native/Folk songs through-out the trip.

The entire boat ride takes around am hour. It is a relaxing, cool ride, with trees all around and no stinky smell at all. I was told that during the summer, the waters are clear but during rainy season, such as this, the waters are either murky brown or green. .

There is even a part of the river where there is clear line between a clear portion and the brownish portion of the river. I was told that the clear waters are part of a small resort located on the eastern bank of the River. This idyllic spot would make a great base for further exploring the environment, or to just relax. .

Navigating Loboc River is a photographer's delight. I am no photographer but with the beauty of the lush greenery's above the river on a mountainous background and clear skies, I can't help myself snapping. .

Near the end of the trip, our boat lead us to a balsa where there are native performers. Our boat stayed there for about fifteen minutes where we are entertained by native songs and dance by local townsfolks. There were even a fusion of modern dance with a background of native songs. Quite amusing, really. .

At the end of our trip, we pass by a house where Tarsiers are kept in a large cage. I have learned that the Family taking care of these captive little monkeys obtained a permit from the DENR. There are only limited number of Tarsiers in that place but if you wanna see more, you may want to visit Tarsier Farm in Corella. .

This, I think, was one of my favorite activities in Bohol. The boat ride was enjoyable, the food was sumptuous, and the surroundings were very refreshing. The cruise along Loboc River took us upstream passing by large vegetation of nipa (palm tree), coconuts and other tropical flora. And finally, I got to see and visit the cute little Tarsiers, the smallest monkeys on earth. . Kayganda talaga ng Pilipinas!

  3. Hello Mr. Travelling Lawstude, I would just like to ask or inquire how much is the fee in floating restaurant and do we need to make reservations? Also I don't plan to stay overnight at Panglao but want to experience the beach. How much is the entrance to the beach and which would you recommend? Thanks.

  6. @ kris - ang bayad namin is 900 without d need of reservation. sa panglao naman free yun kasi lahat ng beach doon pag-aari ng government pero yung entrance sa mga resort merong fee. try nyo bohol's divers resort at iba pa na resort sa stretch ng alona beach.
