Coron : Lake Kayangan

Footpaths @ Kayangan Lake

Lake Kayangan pockmarked a fortresslike jungle-clad rocky escarpments of a primary tourist destination, that is, Coron Island. It is dubbed as the cleanest lake in the Philippines, and I would have to say that such title fits Kayangan Lake to a "T". Approaching the lake, we were mesmerized by the view of limestone cliffs surrounded by lush foliage of small trees and greens between and among its crevices. And looking at the clear lake, you could see fishes and rock formations even if these were about twenty-feet below.
Here are some pics:

Other than swimming, here are some interesting activities you could do at the lake:

1. Cliff jumping - there is a spot there where you could jump for about 30 feet into the deep lake below. Our guide together with some tourist from Korea,Japan and Belgium gamely jumped at the cliff while hollering their country's name.

2. Caving - there is a small cave at the left side of the cave that fits around ten people. Nothing much to see there but a good photo-op for those who like souvenir shots.

3. Snorkling - the lake has several colorful fishes and rock formations and interestingly enough, lots of black and brown snails.

4. Chow Time - although eating is strictly prohibited in the lake's vicinity, lunch can be had on the docking area where a couple of hut is built. The food photos above pretty much summed-up what we had for lunch.
