Selfie Sunday : Aleah, The Solitary Wanderer

Finding Aleah

"Find a girl who travels. Date her, love her, and marry her, and your world will never be the same again." These lines made Aleah a household name among travel bloggers. These quotable lines can be found on her website "The Solitary Wanderer". Her blog chronicles her jaunts and long-term trips with very useful tips and insights coming from a solo female traveler.

Among the many places she had visited and took photos of, she considered this one inside the Colosseum in Rome as one of her favorites. It was also one of her most memorable because she got inside the Colosseum for free.

As per Aleah "I was already at the ticket booth when I learned that it cost 16 euros to go inside. It was way out of my budget so I decided not to go in anymore. I had left the line and was deciding to go back to the Arch of Constantine when a woman suddenly called my attention. She handed me her ticket to the Colosseum (which would also cover the entrance fees to the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum) and told me that I could use it until the next day. She had already been inside and didn't need it anymore. Talk about a random act of kindness!".

Aleah is paying that act of kindness forward by helping other travelers thru tips and advices she shares in her blog so do check it out.

  2. Wow, what a privileged woman. What I love about her (as I can gauge) is that when something is way beyond her means as a traveler, she didn't fret but just silently back off and be content within her means. That, I guess, is how a real traveler should be.

I'm a lover of ancient historical places as I've been exposed to reading "World History" during HS. So, seeing Aleah accomplished one of my goals is kind of refreshing and makes me ponder how soon can I get there.

Random act of kindness is the sweetest thing that can happen to a person in a faraway place, let alone from a good hearted stranger. The woman who did that is just so amazing that she never hesitated giving a smile to someone who already had accepted her fate in trying to conquer Colloseum.

It's so remarkably true that when generosity is offered, the recipient will always, in one way or another, finds a way to return back the favor by doing the same act to other people as well. She living a great life I must say!
