Foodstagram Friday : Must Try Gyoza @ Osaka Ohsho

House Specialty

Craving for dumpling, I searched the net to find a restaurant that serves delectable dumplings near my place in Ortigas. My search lead me to Osaka Ohsho which has good reviews of gyoza and advertises itself as the Number One Gyoza restaurant in Japan. There are over 300 outlets in Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea, Singapore and now in Manila and it is located in SM Megamall. Being a dumpling-lover as I am, I just have to try this place.

Osaka Ohsho
Osaka Ohsho means ‘The King of Gyoza in Osaka’. It is a destination for handmade gyoza.Their gyoza is a mixture of cabbage, ginger, garlic and 3 kinds of pork wrapped in special wonton wrapper, then skilfully grilled to a deliciously golden brown crisp on one side yet tantalisingly moist within. Osaka Ohsho serves three kinds of Gyoza, original, cheese and nori . They also have three dipping sauce that you can mix and match - original, miso and chili sauce.

The original Gyoza costs Php 175 for 6 pieces and Php 350 for 12 pieces while the cheese and nori gyoza costs Php 190 for 6 pieces and Php 380 for 12 pieces. You may opt to order Koshihikari Sets or Chahan Sets which include 3 pieces of gyoza along side your main dish with cost ranging from Php 350 to Php 450 per set. These costs exclude VAT and service charge.

Since I went there for gyoza, I tried their Chahan Gyoza Set that includes 6 pieces of gyoza, miso soup, fruits and japanese fried rice. Japanese milk tea completed my order. My verdict - the gyoza is deliciously succulent. It is soft to the bite and so tasty specially if dipped in a mixed original and miso dipping sauce. A worthy gastronomical experience for  just a little above Php 500 so I will definitely go back here to have that dumpling fix.

Osaka Ohsho is located at SM Mega Fashion Hall Branch 3rd Level, SM Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall EDSA corner Julia Vargas Ave., Mandaluyong City. Phone Number is (0917) 828-5011.

  4. This Osaka Ohsho is taking Manila by storm and that famous gyoza is to die for haha. I had the privilege to devour - take not devour - lols! few weeks back in Riyadh where we had taken our dinner to celebrate my sister in law's birthday. A post will come later. And to give my verdict with that "gyoza" - I'd just say - just give me a dozen and I won't share any to someone lols. That's how mouth-watering it is for me. I just love 'em
