Selfie Sunday : Kael of Nomadic-2

Kael at the Summit of Mount Kinabalu

Kael is one half of a young couple from Sydney who decided to quit their full time jobs in the media industry and buy a one way ticket to Asia with no set return date planned. He and Georgie, the other half, have both loved traveling and have visited countries all over the world but always had to return to a job sitting behind a computer from 9-5. After their recent trip to Nepal, they decided to take the jump and quit their jobs for a more permanent travel adventure.

One of the couple's favorite place that they have visited is Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, Borneo. As per Georgie, "When we got to the top, the sun hadn’t yet peeked through the night. We all huddled behind a rock a few meters from the summit to shield ourselves from the freezing howling winds. No one spoke; all I could hear was coughing and sniffing from the other climbers. We must have waited there for around 45 minutes before the first glimpse of the sunset could have been witnessed. Kael stood on the top of the summit battling the freezing winds to take photos of the sunrise. Whilst I hid behind a rock shivering like a wimp, occasionally glimpsing up at the beautiful sunrise and view that was before us. It was only on the descent, once the wind was on my back that I realized how spectacular this was. It looked like we were on top of the world! Above the clouds, it was an amazing sight."

    1. hi Vanessa, that is what travel bug can do to you once you are bitten. I am inspired by their story that I am thinking why not leave my corporate life behind and just start as a nomad in a foreign land :)

  6. Read that they are teachers too. I just admire people who let go of their burdens and just let their life be free.
