Kamayan sa Palaisdaan

The Municipality of Tayabas is an attractive and well-preserved town built at the base of the mountains. Approximately halfway between Lucban and Lucena City, this place is the site of an old church St. Michael Archangel Basilica and an old stone Malagunlong Bridge. The most well-known place, however, is this seafood restaurant which is located just 6 kilometers towards Lucban.

In Kamayan Sa Palaisdaan, tables are set in private bamboo shelters some of which are floating in a fish pond. To my foreign readers "Kamayan" means to eat using the hand only (without using spoon and fork or chopsticks) while "Palaisdaan" means a fishpond. So, Kamayan Sa Palaisdaan literally means eating with your hand atop a fishpond. In fact, if you bring your own fishing rod, you can throw in a line from your table and just pay for what you catch.

For this post, I will show you the refreshing view of the place from its bamboo huts to its artificially made waterscape. The food will be featured in my upcoming posts.

Ferns, Palms and Wild Plants are neatly arranged around the place.

It is recommended to order your food first then take a stroll around the place while waiting for your food to be served.

You will be refreshed with the sound water dripping over a small man-made waterfalls.

Walk under the Trellis with Eve's Hair

The Collection of Bonsai Trees is a crowd-drawer.

Just beautiful structures everywhere.
