The Linden Suites : My Staycation with the Ragtag Bunch

Find Your Own Corner

I have been working in Ortigas area for almost four years now so the idea of a vacation for me has to be somewhere else other than the area where I work. But when Gay of Pinay Travel Junkie invited me to a staycation at the Linden Suites in Ortigas with some of the best travel bloggers of the country, who am I to say no.

Less than ten minutes from where I work, I reached the Linden Suits. Although traffic can be unforgiving especially during peak hours, it was almost non-existent that night. Parking however is a different story because San Miguel Avenue is a high activity area and it may take you awhile to find a slot for your car. Nevertheless, the nearest ideal parking space would be the creekside parking at the back of the hotel.

The Original Cebu Lechon Belly and Frontera Wines

The entire 19th floor, well seven rooms at least, were reserved for the Travel Bloggers Pajama Party. I arrived past seven pm and half of the invited participants including Sabrina of Just One Way Ticket were already there. Of course, it is always a welcome delight to see Gay in all her sexy cheerful mood but what got me excited the most were the rows of Frontera Red and White Wines from Chile courtesy of Fly Ace Corp. and Mr. Marlon Gochan’s Cebu Original Lechon Belly manning the center of the dining table. It was a pot luck event so everyone has brought something special to keep our tummies occupied for the night. One by one, the invited travelers arrive including Kate of well, Adventurous Kate. And before the clock strikes midnight, the last participant, Dong Ho, came.

The Ragtag Bunch

It was a night of fun filled with laughter and karaoke music with sharing of travel stories and experiences from diverse group of travel bloggers, thus a ragtag bunch. And the sharing of experiences could not possibly be better if not for the accommodation provided by The Linden Suites. Because after all the songs have been sung and all the wines have gone to the wind, each of us dozed-off to the comfort of our assigned rooms.

Singing Their Hearts Out

Each room varies from the numbers of persons that can be accommodated. I was assigned to a spacious room with a single bed and a double-sized bed and Marky and Darwin were my roomies. Our suite has entertainment system (tv and dvd-stereo), electronic safe, iron and board, and a bath tub among others.

This is a group shot! Promise!

There is also internet access with insanely put alpha-numeric passwords that you need to get from the reception. If your suite wasn’t enough, you have free access to their mini gym, sauna, massage rooms and heated pool.

The Spacious Suites for Bed and Bath

When morning comes, we were treated to a buffet breakfast at the Mesclun Restaurant. We were welcomed by the hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Dominic A. Dorol . The selection of entrees is modest at best with salads and breads on one side and the arrays of sausages, baked fish and dilis on the other side. There is also an omelet station at the back where you can have your morning eggs anyway you want.

Breakfast at Mesclun Restaurant

Of course, their delicious unlimited brewed coffee will perk-up your day. Before the meal ends, we were greeted by Michael Sagaran, the hotels Marketing Comminication Managet. He also has special gifts of various mementoes to all travel bloggers who joined the invitation.

Can't Help It :)

I often view Ortigas mainly as a place of work but my staycation at The Linden Suites changed that. Now, I view Ortigas as a place where business, entertainment and relaxation thrive. And at the center of it all is The Linden Suites which is located near a place where your basic necessities are met – be it a mall, a restaurant or more.

For more information about their staycation rates, you may click on this website or call Dominic at +6326387878 local 8302 or write them at The Linden Suites, 37 San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City 1600, Philippines.

  5. It's nice to see you guys bonding through a staycation. Kind of a different experience huh? This is one of the perks of being a blogger - travel blogger in your case Oman. You get to meet new people under the same interest and bond over a night. Meet ups always excites me. But for the record I haven't done a "staycation" with fellow bloggers around. I just had an experience with fellow bloggers at our condo in GMA Kamuning during my vacation last Feb. 2013 and it's a blast I'd say.
