Cebu : Kawasan Falls

Waterfallers

Whenever I visit Cebu, my friends urge me to visit Kawasan Waterfalls, which is arguably, Cebu's most popular waterfalls. So when I backpacked to Moalboal, I saved a day to visit this waterfalls.

Modest Falls

So from White Beach in Moalboal, I hopped on a habal-habal to get me to the highway. Habal-habal is the fastest ride and will cost you about half a hundred pesos. From the highway, buses ply the area enroute to Badian where the Kawasan Falls is located. Even if you don't ask, the conductor will shout when the bus arrive at the jump-off point.

Threepers

From the entrance you will have to walk uphill for about 1.5 kl to get to the first waterfall. It is an easy trek and you can do away with a guide. However, the time I went there, they made a guide mandatory so I just obliged. I have learned that the falls was closed a couple of weeks ago because of the damages made by a typhoon. Remnants of the devastation was visible as you head to the falls.

Strong Stream

When I reached the falls, there are about a hundred visitors crowding the area. There are also commercial structures, stores, and huge umbrellas that obstruct some views of the falls. It is indeed popular so if you have any plans of shooting an unobstructed view, be prepared to b disappointed.

Selfie on Top of the Falls

For some, Kawasan Falls is a peaceful natural place where you can enjoy many waterfalls of natural spring water. However, it ain't too peaceful the first time I went there. Maybe some other time... perhaps!

    1. Sadly, it appears to be over-commercialized. That and the ravage of the recent typhoon too.

  3. That is the problem if an attraction is too accessible. Lots of people visit it and thus making it too commercialized. And before we know it, people tend to destroy the beauty of the place.

    1. I guess Mother Nature is here to stay. Hopefully, we don't come to a point where we suffer her wrath.
