Aninuan Falls and Beach @ Puerto Galera

Majority of the tourists in Puerto Galera flock to White Beach. In fact, it is Puerto Galera's party place. But before I feature the place in my future posts, let me just share you two more not-so-often visited but nevertheless interesting places in Puerto Galera - The Falls and Beach of Aninuan.

Aninuan Beach is located west of the White Beach, on the foot of a mountain facing a white sandy beach with tranquil and serene atmosphere. On low tide, you can even wade your way from White Beach to this beach. The place is good for swimming, fishing or just playing at its shore which is clear, pollution-free and cool.

Nearby, a smaller but equally inviting falls can be reached. The forty-five minute uphill climb along a snaking creek takes one to a dense forest with tall hardwood and exotic vegetation. A dip in the pool from water coming from the falls will surely cap a refreshing trip.

Here are some photos I have taken of the place:

Sandbar @ Puerto Galera

One that is not so often visited but otherwise still interesting place because of its peculiar landform in Puerto Galera is the Sandbar. The Sandbar is a narrow strip of land that connects the island of Mindoro with Boquete Island. To the east are the waters of Muelle Bay and to the west is the Little Balateros Cove. This place is fast-becoming a word-of-mouth for windsurfers. In fact, an annual competition for windsurfing is held there.

Strolling Along Old Macau

Just a bit of history. Fishermen from Fujian and farmers from Guangdong were the first known settlers in Macau, when it was known as Ou Mun, or "trading gate", because of its location at the mouth of the Pearl River downstream from Guangzhou (Canton).

Macau on a Sunless Day

MACAU - The sky is dark and hazy on what seems to be a combination of fog and smoke. There is no sun and you can't see any blue above. There are droplets of water in the atmosphere but it is not raining. It felt moist but warm at the same time. I just don't know if that is the typical weather in Macau but all I can say is that, that day is not the best day to shoot photos.

Feelin' Like I'm on the Outside... Inside!!!

There is nothing like the outdoors... pinching a tent in a sand, cooking your food on a fire that you made and just embracing the warmth (and coolness) of nature. But I must admit, sometimes, you keep looking for that extra somethin'. Somethin' that will make you go WOW, somethin' that will make you marvel at the ingenuity of man. The second floor of the Venetian Hotel in Macau offered just that.

Mainit Hot Springs @ Biliran

Mainit Hot Springs is located in the Municipality of Caibiran in the island of Biliran. The local government has developed this place by constructing three small pools that will hold the flowing hot water coming from the islands' active volcanic and mountainous areas. The temperatures in the pool are classified as warm, hot and very hot - but these are all safe for a relaxing dip. In fact, I spent sometime in there just dipping alternately in those three pools.

Caution should be taken on going there thou because you need to cross a small strip of stream before you can go to the constructed pools. The stones in the stream can be quite slippery because of the sulfuric residue that the hot springs produce. It should also be noted that the place seem to have only few visitors that whenever there are tourists to this place, flocks of local from the neighborhood suddenly appears and seem to be amused with the new faces they see. No need for concern thou 'coz these are friendly folks and they offer ready smiles for you.

By the way, Mainit literally translates to "hot" so you got an overkill in the nomenclature there. Let me share this post and the three previous post in Biliran to all my friends in the meme "My World". To see other great places from around the world, just click here.

Karaha Cascades @ Biliran

This is probably the first time I learn of cascades... those rocks, stones and flowing water formations that is smaller than waterfalls but bigger than rapids. And what better way to learn this by actually going to and enjoying Biliran's Karaha Cascades.
